Today my girlfriend told me that she would never have kids with a guy with tattoos because she doesn't want her kids born with the tattoos of the father, as if they were passed genetically. What are some ridiculous science-related ridiculous misconceptions you've had the displeasure to observe? by oldspicerolldadicein AskReddit

When I hear things like this it makes me think some people just don't want to learn. It's as though they've decided that technology is complicated and they'll never understand it, so they basically just put a bandana over their eyes and hope for the best.

Photo on Page 4 is not from 343 Sansome St. Too bad I can't say something without logging in to Facebook. Really?

Edit: Also, "Well worth the long elevator ride"? Yeah, my time is so valuable I can't waste 30 seconds...

Honestly, just how bad is MUNI? by diuleiin sanfrancisco

[–]sleeplyss 1 point2 points ago

In general, muni is reliable. The number of times I have a perfectly pleasant muni trip far, far outweigh the number of bad experiences. I think the crazy rumors about how bad it is stem from the fact that San Franciscans ride muni 2-6 times per day, maybe more, so what would be a small fraction of bad experiences can stack up very quickly. And of course the bad trips are easier to remember, and more fun to talk about.

If you've never had a problem with muni then you must never actually ride muni.

What was the most memorable compliment you have ever received? by lerinoumin AskReddit

[–]sleeplyss 0 points1 point ago

An older man, maybe 60 or so, stopped me on a bus packed with people to tell me I had the most beautiful eyes. I guess it is memorable because he was so genuine, it seemed like it made him really happy to tell me that.

I once gave my mom a cd, and she told me all the songs sounded the same. I then found that her cd player was on track repeat. What are your parents' technology fails? by pseudosarain AskReddit

Now i'm just imagining that's all he uses facebook for: interacting with people who have the same name as him.

My mom asked me today if I was at "the job," also as though I am a child, instead of someone in their mid-twenties working full time at a 9 to 5.

Can we all just brag for a moment? by rastabeanin AskReddit

[–]sleeplyss 5 points6 points ago

I'm doing everything I can to change my life because I want to be happy, and I'm doing it alone, and it's scary. No one tells me they're proud of me, so I tell myself. And yeah, I think that's something to brag about.

I am pathetically over-sensitive. How do I get over this? by Cervical_Mucusin AskReddit

[–]sleeplyss 0 points1 point ago

I think what might help is to accept that yes, you are falleable. As much as your mom or your boyfriend tells you that you're the living epitome of heaven on earth, you're not actually perfect. You do things that piss other people off (whether you know it or not), and all you can do is try to be a good person and when you get some constructive criticism, consider it. It's not meant to destroy you, and the more you hear it, the less sensitive you'll be.

Because we don't have to impress each other, we know each other so well there's no urge to try to pretend you're someone you're not.

Looking up words in a dictionary. Because a real dictionary doesn't have a "did you mean xxxxxxx?" function, and I need them to suffer the way I suffered.
