What's the best disc in your collection? Here's mine! by ips1023in discgolf

[–]porkchopsammich 0 points1 point ago

I picked up an ESP Buzzz and I love it, I would say that it's the 'best' disc in my bag, but not the most used.

I'm just starting out with DG, but my bag right now includes a Buzzz and a Teebird and they're my two 'distance discs', as well as a Dart for a putter which is by far my most used disc in my bag. Other discs include a QK II, Monster, Roadrunner, and two Aviars.

Anti-American Propaganda, Korean War. by boop-boop-a-doopin PropagandaPosters

Is there more? I'm going to be teaching a unit on the Korean War in a week and the propaganda was the aspect of the WWII unit that we're just finishing up. More like this would be great!

Vermeer - Woman with a Lute (1662–63) by [deleted]in museum

I have a life long love of maps, and when I first saw this picture (5 mins ago) I immediately googled 'Vermeer + Maps'... what I got was a fascinating paper worth a read for anyone else who saw this painting and thought the same thing.

You can read the .pdf here.

Great! I'll keep throwing this one for a while longer, but will look at the R-Pro for the next disc order.

I agree, I'm going to propose the same deal to any of his friends who have discs lying around their place as well. The only place near me that sells discs has a good mark-up on them, but to me it's worth it to get a wide range of discs for myself.

I've been using a Dart that I ordered online, but I'd like to get something that isn't as stiff. The Dart seems to roll a lot when I miss!

DIY baskets.... stolen. by porkchopsammichin discgolf

The one visible from my window is also the only one not on the main path that the 8 other holes were on. I don't think that they purposely left this one, I think that they simply did not know it was there.

No offense taken at all, I can't imagine why anyone would want them either. The thing is, if it was the company that owns the land then they probably would have also taken all of the dirt biking stuff that's all over the place as well. There are jumps, banks, trails, chairs, hay bales and sets of old tires all over the place... the only thing that was taken was the DG holes.

I can't explain it, but they're gone... We'll just have to move on. I'm going to spend the weekend taking the only remaining basket and altering it so that it's portable. Then when I want to play a round I'll just have to walk the basket to the next hole each time.

No, they were on private land that's owned by a company called smart center. Everyday it's used by dirtbikers, atv's, people walking their dogs, etc... we can't see how anyone would suddenly have a problem with a few disc golf holes back there too.

DIY baskets with plenty of scrounged materials. 9 holes for $100 by porkchopsammichin discgolf

very annoying, I'd like to add more chains in the future, but the chain was the only thing we had to pay for on a very limited budget.

We didn't know what tonals were until we were already 4 holes in! We're happy with these though, having a lot of fun with them.

Improvements we plan to make:

  • We need to drill a few holes in the bottom of the bins for water drainage.

  • Some of the poles need to be shortened, or hammered further into the ground so they sit lower.

  • Some 'L' brackets duct taped to the poles and drilled into the bottom of the buckets to keep them level

We have been collecting the beer bottles from people who come over to play, and as we turn them in we're using the money to go toward paying for the chain that we've already bought, as this money grows we're planning to add more chains to the holes to fill them out a bit. Nothing more frustrating than putting a long put right on the mark and having it pass right through the chains!

great, thanks! I throw a few different shots, a rhbh, a rhfh and an overhand shot. my forehand seems to be the only one that I can get to roll well, but I've read about people throwing backhand that rolls as well... can you point me to a youtube channel, or something similar that will show me how I can increase my shot repertoire?

great, thanks! I've been playing with a friends discs and have noticed through just 45 holes that his mid-range is turning over a lot more than it was previously, and is rolling further. Does this happen because of disc wear?
