Wisconsin recall slipping away from Democrats by treadmarksin politics

[–]morrison0880 1 point2 points ago

Many of the tax breaks are predicated upon the number of jobs employers create, so that's a good thing! Out of state companies that bring 51% of their jobs to Wisconsin won't have to pay taxes for 2 years. That lures companies to our state, which creates jobs, which is a good thing!

The Walker campaign never stated that a teacher's salary in Milwaukee was $100000. In fact, no political figure stated that, which you would know if you even bothered to use your own brain and read the source you gave.

What's the point you're trying to make about the upcoming budget deficit? I'd like to think that you believe this is Walkers fault, but I don't think you're that simple. Are you?

Believe what you want, but there are a lot of middle class people who believe in what Walker is doing. Bringing jobs to Wisconsin, helping school districts with their financial problems, keeping teachers from receiving mass layoffs and furloughs, and keeping our taxes down (my own property taxes fell $250 this past year). Apparently you aren't a Wisconsin citizen, so I understand your lack of knowledge when it comes to what's going on here. But maybe you should do a bit of research before coming to reddit, having an artificial opinion spoon-fed to you, and then rattling off some moronic, uninformed anti-Walker comments just to get some karma and feel smart for having the hivemind here fall in line with you.

Thanks for the correction. I love the internet. For everything that gets posted online there's a basement dweller spell checking everyone. The next time I post something here I will try my best to make sure the spelling is all exact, so morrison0880 doesn't have to take time out of his day to correct it! Did I do a better job this time?

You certainly haven't learned how to spell ridiculousness.

You showed me a site which shows Walker created tax cuts in order to stimulate economic growth and job creation in the state, which, as the latest employment figures show, has been working. I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say with your second link. Care to clarify by putting creating some sort of coherent argument by yourself, instead of linking to random sites and making me guess what point you're trying to make?

Also, what facts are you looking for that Walker is lying about in his ads? You started out claiming that Walker's ads weren't truthful and contained no facts. You have yet to explain yourself. If you can toss out a comment like that so confidently, surely you have your own support for why you believe so, right?

Who are those "buddies" you refer to, and which tax breaks did he give them? And when did he claim teachers and firefighters were overpaid? I remember Act 10 calling for public employees to contribute more to their pensions and healthcare, which is completely understandable. There is a need to reign in costs associated with the benefits provided to public employees, and Walker's reforms gave school districts the ability to do so in order to keep their budgets in line and avoid teacher layoffs. But as far as I know, the unions and teachers still have the ability to negotiate their wages.

And again, what facts are you looking for that Walker is lying about in his ads?

You implied that Walker's ads don't include facts and/or were false. What facts are you looking for?

have also gotten about four fake absentee ballot request forms, just like they did during the summer recalls.

This is the comment I took issue with, and which really spawned my replies to you. You didn't qualify it by stating that it could be an error. You flat out called them fake, and directly compared them to the supposed fake absentee ballot request forms from last year. I have a problem with this. As in your post about this, people like jmacken will go all nutty claiming vast conspracies by the evil republicans, and spout off garbage like "This is fraud, just like last time. You can't politic on an absentee ballot request form." And people who can't think for themselves here, which I'm convinced is at least 90% of the posters, believe that shit and run with it.

I understand the environment I'm in when I enter /r/politics. But I find it extremely frustrating when I see the number of posts not only in favor of the recalls, but sensationalizing and/or outright lying about wrongdoings by the republican party. Not only that, the amount of hatred levied against those who think differently, who believe that much of what Walker has done is right, is astonishing coming from such an "enlightened" crowd. Supporting Walker has gotten me stereotyped as a 1%'er who is a pro-life, homophobic, misogynist, racist, moronic, unpatriotic asshole, among other not so nice labels. These people who respond to me know nothing about my personal life, and are clearly and ignorantly mistaken about my social beliefs, yet that's the box Walker supporters fit into. It's pathetic.

Now, I know it's easy to flow along with the mob mentality, and many of those sporting their artificial opinions here would rather have others do their thinking for them. And I know I'm in the vast minority of those who are pro-Walker here, so I have no illusions about people not attacking me. But when I see sensationalist or misleading posts and comments, I'm going to reply.

Anyhoo, good luck with your studies. Have a great weekend.

Finally! Someone with some actual evidence backing up a claim. Bravo.

First off, your information most likely came from the electoral register, sent to you because you voted Republican. I'm assuming you recently moved to Madison from Eau Claire, so that is where they still show you registered to vote. Especially if you haven't changed your address with the DMV since or before then, and voted there in the 2010 elections. It would make sense then that they believed you would be voting absentee from your previous voting address.

Using this as evidence of some sort of election fraud is being completely dishonest. This is not some sort of fake absentee ballot request form designed to trick Democrat voters to miss the vote. If anything, it would screw over any republican receiving it. Instead, it is a mailer sent out to voters from the Republican primary attempting to assist them in requesting absentee ballots. Now, I've got an issue if the request forms sent out mistakenly give the wrong information. But perhaps you should inquire as to why your assigned municipality is still listed as Eau Claire, instead of riling up the crowd by shouting "fraud"!

How is it being stolen again? You can spout buzzwords and catchphrases, but in the end you have nothing to back up your spoon-fed opinion.

I threw them out

Of fucking course you did. I got pro-Barrett mailings claiming that Walker is planning on bringing slavery back to WI. And absentee ballots distributed by the unions, at least four, telling me to vote on August 1. But I threw those out too.

money is speech, and corporations are people

Basically, with the way election laws stand, individuals can buy elections if they have enough money.

Blah blah blah. Where were you when state and national unions were injecting nearly $17 million into the recall effort, as well as backing their hand-picked candidate?

It is too much to ask for. You need to look at the sub you're in. Also, look at all the evidence he gave when I asked for pictures of the bogus absentee ballots. At least, I'm sure he's going to post those pics. You know, when he gets a chance.

Ah, you're done here. Nice. Let me reply to your "debunking".

Let this be a lesson: If not even Scott Walker gets recalled, our electoral system is fucking broken.

Were you not paying attention to the out of state money flowing into the recall election? Should I bring up the mine that Gogebic Taconite wanted via pay to play politics? Should I bring up the attempted insertion of no bid contract sales for Koch Industries into the first budget repair bill? I live in Wisconsin and saw how far the corruption went.

And your claim to be unbiased, or at least not one-sided...

Barrett didn't give special promises to unions during the recall election like she did; which as a union supporter, I found a bit misguided.

So, it was just a bit misguided when the unions threw all their clout behind Falk and spent over $4 million to get her elected. Yet, the system is broken if Walker gets elected. Walker raises $10 million from out-of-state contributors, and we're supposed to be upset, and state and national unions through We Are Wisconsin pump almost $13 million into the state to power the recall movement. Yet the system is broken if Walker gets elected.

Yeah, crow, you are full of shit if you want to convince me, or anyone else, that you are not one-sided in your opinions. Remember, "Those on the right that still vote for him after this are fucking ignorant." Sounds a lot like one-sided thinking to me. You are as transparent as they come man.

You and I know that this recall effort started and has been supported by the unions over Act 10. Yet Barrett is running this campaign as a referendum on Walker's job creation record. Why? Because he knows, and everyone else knows, that Act 10 is working. The bummer here is that Walker's jobs record keeps on improving, and they know that too. People can have disagreements over what they believe is best for the state. But it is fucks like you, who spew bullshit and hatred against those who see things differently, who are the problem in this state.

Jesus Christ crow, too many copypasta links! You just gave me a book to read.

I will respond, but don't expect anything soon if I need to go through everything. I am familiar with your arguments for a Walker recall, and while I don't agree with most of it, I'm fine with you feeling that way. As I am free to disagree. Does not mean the process is "broken" at all.

Edit It would be nice of you to directly respond to me instead of copypastaing a wall of sources that don't even address the substance of my comment. I have to take a leave from the interwebs for a bit, so I'll get back to ya later.

Were you not paying attention to the out of state money flowing into the recall election?

It's funny how money doesn't pile directly into the coffers of any one candidate before they win the primary. Wonder why that is?

Also, how much do you think was contributed to the Recall Walker campaign by outside interests? A couple grand? Here, maybe this will help...

State and national unions have poured millions of dollars into creating, staffing and funding two front groups - We Are Wisconsin and Wisconsin for Falk. The first group spent nearly $10.8 million helping Democrats in last year's summer recall races and more than $2 million more this year, and the second organization paid out about $4 million in a failed effort to help former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk win the Democratic nomination.

You see, it's people like you who take a one-sided aproach to everything in your fucking lives, positioning everyone who disagrees with you as an enemy and an evil to be destroyed, who are fucking this country up. You form your artificial opinions from the shit people you identify with spoonfeed you, and circlejerk about how if things don't go your way, the "system is fucking broken". Open your goddamn eyes and realize that not everyone is going to disagree with you. And as hard as it is to wrap your pompous little brain around the idea, they have legitimate reasons for doing so.

And yes, please do bring up the mining project that was killed a single moderate republican positioning himself to keep his seat, and every democrat, in a purely political move to block Walker's agenda. And we can absolutely bring up the no-bid contracts in Walker's repair bill, which had conspiracy nuts going crazy about some special favor to the Koch brothers, yet applied to any and all businesses. As long as you'll also discuss Barrett taking $10,000 in political donations from the company holding a no-bid contract for trash removal in Milwaukee.

I live in Wisconsin to asshat. You want to start talking facts, go for it. You want to downvote my opinions because they don't mesh with yours? I fully expect it from a biased, uninformed individual like yourself. But go ahead. Do some research so you can reply with a witty, faux-intellectual point with absolutely no substance behind it. I've got a few minutes to burn, so I look forward to hearing back from you.

SE Wisconsin. Perhaps the commercials are based on where you live? I see a ton of Barrett ads, so to say that Walker is shutting him out of the public eye is not true.

Also, pics of those four fake absentee ballots?
