Bar the occasional loss-leader Groupon deal, promotions in HK are crap - a year's worth of Park'n'Shop points bought me a pair of bastard scissors.

Nevertheless, they seem to work. Every few months, folks will queue overnight for the latest gimmick (a McDonald's Snoopy or what not). I guess companies don't have to try when there is no competition and it's easy to play on people's Kiasu.

edit - I can usually explain if I didn't link to OS, but it's just downvoted (like this). As for original vs someone else's content - my ratio is probably about the same as the rest of Reddit, right?

It does need more people to post content and check the 'new' queue - my posts are only prominent through lack of other submissions.

Mods have the option to hide the down arrow, if only as a temporary trial - most won't know how to bypass it.

vincidahk rightly spots that new posts are often instantly voted to zero and so never appear... It's not Reddit or a bot applying downvotes as submissions made in the middle of the night do just fine. (Plus, it can't be automated as no other sub-Reddit behaves the same).

r/hk's blue arrow issue disappears overnight whilst American subscribers are active, so I guess a few folks are sitting in HK doing it.

Mobile M+ officially opens in 2017 but they've a free preview showcasing the work of 7 HK artists in several pop-up installations around Yau Ma Tei. http://www.mobile-mplus.hk/ It's free.

Art East Island kicks off in Wanchai too http://arteastisland.wordpress.com/ There will be a free shuttle bus from ART HK – open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-5pm until August 28th.
