I think part of the duty of a school system is to prepare young people for the work force - not just with book learnin' but also with the ability to conduct themselves in adult society vis a vis their mannerisms and decorum, their dress, and their ability to complete tasks (even when they find them distasteful). Part of that is learning to get up and go to work every day - even if work starts at 8 a.m.
