One that confused me as a kid was "anxious".

to look forward to; "I am anxious to see the play"
to dread; "I am anxious about being in the play"

From the age of about 5 to 12 I thought it was the first definition (since life was all about being anxious to do this or that).

When I heard that it meant to "worry", I hated English.

I think in most cases they choose climbs with a hike down. Some base jump.

Does the climbing community think free soloing is stupid or do they think it's respectable? I can't seem to get a clear read on that part of the culture.

On one hand, I'll hear someone say they think it's irresponsible, and then on the other hand they'll put a free soloer as their desktop wallpaper.

Not even sure I know where I stand on it, just curious what the community thinks.

"I'm pretty sure he hated Joffrey more than any of the Starks [hated Joffrey]". (I believe it's near impossible to hate Joff more than any single Stark hates him).

But you were saying he hates Joff more than he hates the Starks. And I think I agree.

I think you're probably just making a point that Tyrion also disliked Joffrey, but I'm going to go ahead and be overly-literal and say he certainly did not hate him more than any of the Starks. I'd talk more about it, but I'd probably inadvertently reveal things about the books/show.

If I have a long tail of rope, I'll usually just barely tuck it back into the knot. Is this bad? I just put the very tip of the rope into the top loop, I don't feed a length of it through.

I do this because it prevents the Figure-8 from turning into a locked little knot-ball if I take a big fall. If the knot is super tight after a fall, I can just pull out the little nub I fed through which gives me some wiggle room to undo the knot.

Are the "Safety Knots" actually safer or do they just give you something to do with the trailing end of the rope?

By "Safety Knot" I mean the little knot on the right of the figure 8 in this picture. I've heard of gyms that will fail your belay test if you don't make this, and I never understood why.

Well, we have a scrim at 6:30pm Thursday, but we've done back-to-back scrims before. But MM is also almost all EST, so 7:30 might be a little late.
