You must read it!! It's so good. It starts with the early days of Superchunk forming and them starting the label in their home and I think ends in the early/mid 2000's. Arcade Fire was in it, but off the top of my head I can't remember if it talked about both Funeral and Neon Bible or just Funeral.

Yeah I saw them on Jimmy Kimmel the other night and Shirley did seem a little more subdued than usual, but I wouldn't really care. I MUST see them live. She was such a huge influence on me as a kid. Do you know if they come out after shows? I go to a lot of concerts and like to stay afterwards and meet the band and I've been successful all but one time (Death Cab For Cutie) and would die if I could meet her. But they seem a little too big to do meet and greets.

I've actually read a ton of good reviews of it, but then they're the reviews that Garbage linked to from their twitter. For the most part I like it. I LOVE Control. When the instruments come in after the slow-ish intro, I can't help but dance. I'm just so glad they came back out with another album. They were my favorite band in high school and most of college, but for the past few years I've almost completely forgot about them. I put all their older songs back on my iPod and have been rocking out. I really hope they do a huge tour in the US after they come back from Europe because they're pretty much the only band I love that I've never seen live. Them and Arcade Fire.

Same here, I posted a link to the stream a few weeks before its release. Oh well.

I'm sure you've read their bio, Our Noise, then? If not it's such a good read of the local scene and how they formed and evolved over the years. I would kill to start a label and have it turn out like Merge.

Merge records is such an awesome label. They have a lot of great artists on their roster. Neon Bible is one of my favorite albums of all time.

OP, you would love Mates of State. In their older music, Kory and Jason are always singing different lines at the same time.

He said he might come to some of them (there's going to 35 total) but he isn't making any promises/commitments. Nor will he say which ones he'd plan on attending.

My thoughts exactly. I hate tuning in to a "new" episode of a show only to have it be a flashback episode with scenes I've already seen.

If you like Ben Folds (Five), then I'm pretty sure you'll like Jukebox the Ghost. Here's a video of them playing on Letterman.

Need a Press Pass.. Anyone ever try for one and actually have some success in getting one? by kcollins33in bonnaroo

[–]atillathehunniee 1 point2 points ago

When I was involved in college radio, I wanted to meet Ben Folds, so I sent out an email to all my promoter/label contacts. And someone actually hooked me up with an interview, and all I did was bring that email with me and I got backstage for the entire day. Proof. Although that was 2006, so a lot of stuff could have changed.

Same! I was hoping since they've been headlining and only have two albums out that Nate would throw a Format song out once in a while. But I don't think he has...I'm not completely sure of the circumstances surrounding their demise and whether he just wants to put that era behind him.
