You're supposed to respond to a facetious joke with one of your own, not thudding sarcasm :P

Is China's economy impervious to traditional economics? Can they remove all uncertainty and risk from their economy? by EpicSchwinnin answers

[–]allsecretsknown 0 points1 point ago

Not only is it not impervious, but the mechanism that makes it work at all is entirely outside their control, in that they rely on exports to absorb the excess supply of labor that would otherwise foment social revolt.

The side effect of these manipulations is that there is a constant inflation that erodes any wage hikes, which would be a deterrent to futher outside investment and a drag on the exports that sustain their economy. To combat this, they push their excess dollars back into foreign investments, notably American treasuries, which earn little more than a pittance and have the side effect of holding down their currency value. The problem is that, despite their massive nominal holdings, they have no where near the accumulated capital that such actions would normally garner because of the pitiful returns, and any devulation in the value of the dollar can threaten to wipe out what accumulated value they do have.

The central problem in the Chinese economy is that it is not domestically self-sustaining at the growth rates they need to keep their entire system afloat (as their local and provincial governments are heavily indebted from years of large-scale government spending to reach GDP targets) and they must accept worse returns for their goods and services than comparable economies, because any influx of capital into their own economy pushes up inflationary pressures, which stresses the lower classes and increases the risk of revolution, and weakens outside investment demand as labor costs increase in response to the inflation, which curbs future growth rates and demands the government to divert revenue and issue debt to cover the shortfall in growth, which then feeds inflationary pressures, and the cycle continues.

At some point, the bubble will burst, and the Chinese will have to suffer a period of prolonged unemployment to make up for the decades of "offshoring" their unemployment rate, and when that happens the Chinese government will find it hard to maintain their economic manipulations of a massive lower class that did not share equally in the prosperity of the boom years.

Fair point, he said so himself that his biggest focus of the offseason is on finishing games and limiting turnovers.

Stephen Hawking would have a 1,000 yard season behind that O-line.

I. . .I suddenly have to see this. Someone take all my money and make this happen.

He is a douche, but he's a lovable douche.

You love him when he's on your team, and love to hate him when he's not.

His college #2 was taken by Jimmy Clausen, and he decided to go with #1 in honor of Warren Moon, who mentored him during the offseason.

I can understand. He definitely enjoys being the center of attention on the field. Off the field he's pretty quiet.

He teammates enjoy messing with him on it, though. He did a charity kickball game a few weeks ago, and after kicking a mammoth home run and dancing around the bases, his teammates all crowded around home plate to welcome him with high fives. . .right up until he got within five feet of them, then they walked away and left him hanging en masse.

No Sophmore Slump for QBs Andy Dalton and Cam Newton? by hnrqoliv182in nfl

[–]allsecretsknown 0 points1 point ago

I'll have to find it, but I think Ryan mentioned it on Rich Eisen's podcast, and Jordan Gross talked about the playcalling on The Drive. Rivera also specifically mentioned the Detroit game as an example of Cam audibling (he mentions the last TD where Cam ran it in.)

Er. . .no, Ryan Kalil mentioned that Cam changed two blitz assignments presnap in the Cardinals game (correctly, as well) and he often had dual play calls before snaps to pick from by the Redskins game.

Regarding team loyalty - everyone says "football is a business," so why is deciding to take your business elsewhere so frowned upon? by anotheranotherotherin nfl

[–]allsecretsknown 1 point2 points ago

It doesn't make "business" sense to be an NFL fan at all. You don't earn money for being a fan of one team over another, or for being a fan at all.

Greg Cosell: Stafford & Newton Are NFL's Best Young QBs by allsecretsknownin nfl

[–]allsecretsknown[S] 0 points1 point ago

Did I write anything in the present tense? If you go back and read the fucking articles written before the Cardinals game about Cam you'd see that majority opinion was that he was a huge risk and would need a few years to even see the field. That's not hyperbole, that's fucking reality.

Furthermore, the entire gist of my responses in this thread was to PRAISE Dalton and point out he didn't receive the coverage he deserved BECAUSE of Cam.

So learn to fucking read.

No, because this is still the Bible Belt, but I am pointing out that even liberal bastions like California will pass anti-gay legislation.

NC has never had a civil unions bill, and do did not vote to take away rights that once existed like Californua did in passing Prop 8.

North Carolina is easily the most progressive "Bible Belt" state in the country. People forget that California passed a fucking gay marriage ban as well.
