Blizzard: Diablo 3 account compromises historically in line with WoW expansions by mehgandavidin Games

[–]admiral-zombie 0 points1 point ago

It isn't always about downloading "suspicious files"

Case in point, a buddy of mine who played WoW stopped playing for a while, but restarted about 7-8 months later. Apparently his account had been banned for the previous 3 months.

Now if he hasn't logged in once in the last 8 months, how did they get the password 5 months after his last entry? I guess its possible they've had the password sitting around for 5 months waiting to getting around to using it, but that seems unlikely.

There are other ways certainly, I don't know how strong/weak his password was, but there does seem to be much more to it than just avoiding downloading "suspicious files"

A different issue about Diiablo III. I don't care about the SP issue, but is it true that boss grinding for loot is not possible in DIII anymore? by Vicinusin Games

From what I understand perfect squares (or maybe flawless squares) do drop in the higher difficulties at the rate that other tier gems drop in the lower difficulties. Anything above that level will have some value, but the flawless squares are dropping like any other gem at hell/inferno difficulty I think.

The economics in this game are weird by krirbyin Diablo

Yeah I can see that for the stat things, but +% health, the magic/gold find are really worth it. The ruby might be worth it, but not entirely sure as I haven't yet seen too many late game items adding straight damage (although there have been some +obscene fire damage)

TL;DR Adding gems to helms will be well worth it I think, but not much else.

Right now crafting is in a weird position. There are some items that are the D3 version of uniques/sets, but you need to find certain items. And on top of that there are times when a rare item seems like it might be better, its kind of hard to say.

But the problem is that what you're crafting is extremely random. You could get +strength +dexterity and +health on orb pickup...while you're playing a wizard. Times like that the stats are just useless. On top of that you just spent about 500g-3000gold or something like that. Sure you can spam it until you get what you want.

But then there is the auction house, where you can do a search for exactly what you're looking for, and get it. You may have to spend 5,000 gold on it, but you know what you're getting, and you're not risking 10,000gold just rerolling crafting over and over again.

Similarly with gems, you can buy high tier stuff in mass way way cheaper at the auction house than it costs to craft it yourself.

How did blizzard get the overall writing and story so bad, but make the little things like those mentioned here so good?

Wow, I never even thought about that. I just thought that it wasn't a very well portrayed magical barrier, but it now adds a completely different character to the templar at the beginning.

The witch doctor obviously. He comes off as such a pure and kind person, but man does he like breaking jars over the heads of people that are filled with spiders. Clearly he just loves to torment the arachnophobic people

I think everyone has similar examples for the Kulle one. My witch doctor for example cited the unformed lands.

How much did you read your own link? Because it talks a lot about when the theory and patent were put in place, but doesn't actually say anything about when it became widely available to the public.

Wait, was DSL even available in 2000 when diablo2 launched?

How Diablo III's Solo Experience Reveals A Hollow Game by limbclockin Games

which could be a couple of hours ago in a tough/long dungeon.

I've been having a lot of disconnect problems myself, and while it certainly is a problem there aren't any checkpoints that are "a couple hours" apart. You keep all of the gold, items, experience, etc that you collect, you just have to fight through the monsters again.

I'll second this. The Belial fight started off as "wow this is pretty lame, for a lesser evil this just feels so weak..."

AND THEN BOOM. TRANSFORMATION. AWESOME FIGHT.

The fight with Azmodan was so straightforward and simple that I expected them to do then exact same thing...and then he died. The end.

It was this way in SC2 as well. WTF happened to blizzard's writing team?

Go play diablo2, things felt far more epic with the endings/story. Sure it wasn't a strong story, and fairly weak. But it wasn't filled with cliches and making the most obvious betrayals obvious.

Take belial for example. Is there anyone who didn't see it coming that the prince was belial? Hell they tried to make it so obvious that they had the companions smack you over the head with it halfway through the act.

This has been a problem for me, do I save the harvest for midfight when I need to heal, or do I use it right away to just kill everything right away.

TvT embodies the strong emphasis on position play that everyone craves from broodwar

ZvZ embodies the small skirmishes and constant swings rather than maxed out army vs maxed out army that everyone craves from broodwar

PvP is alright...I guess.

It is weird, people cry for more emphasis on positional play, or less emphasis on the maxed ball vs maxed ball strategies that have been going on. Yet the matchups that have the most emphasis on this are the ones many people bitch about the most.

Demoman's Plan by JakeSteamin tf2

[–]admiral-zombie 0 points1 point ago

Everything you've said may or may not be a fine point, but I'm not here to dispute nor affirm it here. I'm just wanting to point out you're misrepresenting the other side when you describe their claims by saying

If you link directly to the image on the author's page, all they get is to waste their money

As I said, I don't think anyone is claiming that is what should be done. In fact that is something criticized by the group even more than if someone were to just link directly to imgur.

Demoman's Plan by JakeSteamin tf2

[–]admiral-zombie 8 points9 points ago

People are claiming it should just give a link to the page then, and not a direct link to the image itself. Don't strawman the opposition by making it out as if they're all claiming the image should be directly linked. Link instead the page that has the image, as well as everything else. As it was said, minor inconvenience for those with RES, which not everyone uses even.

There are good arguments and justifications for using imgur but I'm just trying to point out that very few if any are actually claiming that it should be direct linked to the image off of the author's page like you've described.
