So... What are some of your off the wall not weight specific goals? by loopisin keto

[–]PepperDontEatThat 5 points6 points ago

I bought an H&M versace dress on boxing day for 50% off (still came to $90), but I've never owned ANYTHING with a high fashion name-brand, so I thought that I'll buy this for myself as a birthday present and I'd wear it to my birthday part in May. There were only two dresses left - one was a size 6 and the other a size 8. I hadn't shopped in a while and I used to fit in size 6 dresses at H&M (I have a narrow torso, but a humongous bottom - I buy dresses that flare out at the bottom), so I grabbed the 6. Didn't fit. Then I grabbed the 8, thinking that I'd for sure fit into that. Nope. Didn't even zip up halfway... That was the moment I realized that I'm not at a weight I'm happy with and decided to do something about it. I bought the dress, and it hangs in my room where I can see it in full view everyday as a reminder.

tl;dr: I WILL fit into that dress by the end of May! (I haven't tried it on since and I'm terrified to do so.)

THIS! I always have the hardest time finding boots to fit my calves. One sales lady tried to force the zipper on a pair. It took a good 5 minutes when she finally did it. The problem was that I no longer had blood flow going to my legs. I've always wanted a pair of Hunter rain boots that go up right below the knee. One day I finally decided to splurge and buy a pair (they're $150CAD for rubber boots!)...only to find out that they don't fit me. I'm nearly done my C25K and I'm heading back to the shoe store to try them on!

W7D1 - Well, that was easy by lass_siviusin C25K

I'm about to go out for me W8D2 run. I find that I'm coming on here less than I used to because I don't need that extra motivation as much anymore. Once you reach a certain point in the program, you know that you can do it and you know it's all down hill from here. In the beginning, I was nervous whether or not I would make it and would constantly come back to see how everyone else was doing to keep me going, but now running just seems natural. For me, ever since the end of week 6, every run after that has just been a minor victory (since it's only adding a few minutes) - it's not big enough to get ecstatic over. I'm saving my big victory post when I finish the program. =)

That's just how I feel in regards to posting in this stage of the game. I'm hoping it's the same for other week7 & 8-ers out there, and that they haven't actually quit!

  • With each step I take during my run, I mentally tell my self "I'm getting skinnier!/Getting more fit!".
  • I also want to complete this program without any hiccups. There have been a couple of runs where I just wanted to quit, but didn't. I keep telling myself that I will finish at the date I'm supposed to and then start b210k - I'm going to the Bahamas in mid-April and I'd like to be able to run a 10k by then. It helps to have a deadline.
  • If you ever feel like stopping, just tell yourself that you'd have to repeat this same run again (and you won't get to update your flair!) - sooner or later, you're going to have to run this interval, so why not now?
  • As someone else said: It's not going to kill you. So just push through it. You'll be glad that you did.

Holy crap we're in week 7!!! Just 3 runs away from week 8! Which means only 6 runs from week 9! WHICH MEANS ONLY 9 MORE RUNS UNTIL WE HIT 'DONE'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woah - W5d3 is a single 20min run? EEK! How am I supposed to go from two 8min runs to 20 minutes straight! by mahoniain C25K

[–]PepperDontEatThat 2 points3 points ago

You'll be fine. =) I just did my first 20 minute run last friday. I was worried about it all week, but everything turned out better than expected. In case you need some motivation, here are some others that were right in your exact spot a few days ago: http://www.reddit.com/r/C25K/comments/pjbhl/good_luck_to_everyone_doing_w5d3_today_we_can_do/

[–]PepperDontEatThat 1 point2 points ago

congrats! You'll be done the program before you know it! I'm on week 6 and it feels like I just started week 1 yesterday. Just stick to the program and you'll be amazed by what your body can do.

UPDATE on "I will run week 4 until I can finish it" -- Finished W5D1 today on my first attempt! by ender17in C25K

[–]PepperDontEatThat 1 point2 points ago

This is my mentality too. I've only done one run in week 6, but I can't wait to see what I can do on W6D3. Then no more walking intervals!

Jiggle on, my friend. Jiggle on. I'll be jiggling all the way to the finish line for my 5k race when this program is done, and it will be wonderful!

14 minutes is great! My week1 self would never believe that 14 minutes straight was achievable. Be proud and you'll get to 20 soon! You're so close! Regardless of whether or not we ade it to 20mins, we're all one step closer to completing that 5k run!

Regardless, you still ran for 13 minutes straight and that's definitely something to be proud of! You did a whole 5 more minutes more than W5day2.

I know! It seems like just yesterday I found my shoes buried inside the closet and started W1D1.

Just keep thinking that you'll be able to tell everyone that you can run 20 minutes straight! Break it up into 5 minutes intervals in your head. We all know that we're capable of running an 'easy' 5 minutes from this week's runs. For me, I just kept thinking "what's another 5 minutes?". It'll be over before you know it!

This whole week, day 3 was on my mind the entire time, really hoping that I could it. AND I DID. It feels absolutely amazing. You can do it! =D
