PranicEther here and I'm representing /r/bronx in New York. I enjoy long walks in the park, quiet evenings at home and the window seat on planes, trains and automobiles. Hello all and glad to be here!

Is it me, or does anyone else feel like this is the meet & greet for the heads of states at a Davos summit or somethin'? ಠ_ಠ

BrooklynHipster here! Repping /r/brooklyn. I feel like we should have our own UN seal or something.

Hey there fellow mods! I help run the /r/twincitiessocial and a few related subreddits around the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area (aka the Twin Cities).

/r/twincitiessocial actually started as the meetup organizing space and has really taken off. We were one of the finalists for last year's "Small Community of the Year" and organize a few meetups every week. These include a bar meetup; coffee-house meetup; a couple gaming meets (D&D, designer board games, Annual RISK tourney); and various sporty things depending on the season (Hockey season now!!)

I've actually tried to suggest that people move some submission from TCS to other local subreddits to keep the focus on social stuff, but this is proving difficult. I've created a button in the sidebar with all of the Minnesota subreddits in one click, so folks can find those spaces as well - but it seems we still get folks looking for community services in TCS. Apartment hunters seem to be a big thing - heh.

I don't really mind much - it's just more important to use the "meetup button at the top" trick to make sure our folks know the details of the meetups. It takes some work, but I'm pretty happy with the results. We regularly get 20-25 people out to the bar meet, 10-15 people out to the coffee-house meet, etc.

I'm glad to see this place pop-up! Hopefully we can exchange some ideas and help each other grow our respective reddits! I look forward to some interesting discussions here.

Aukxsona, mod of r/Arkansas and several other Arkansas based reddits. I am also a mod for r/Solar_Cooking which is small, under fed, and weak right now.

I have been here 4 years.

Thanks! Done. If the other Arkansas reddits are for cities, etc., let me know so I can add them to the multi-link and the lists of reddits we're compiling.

/r/LittleRock might be interested to know you guys are here. Talk to broooooooooooce, since he seems to be more active.

[–]greatyellowsharkr/thousandoaks[S] 1 point2 points ago

I overlooked r/LittleRock but I have now contacted them - thanks for the heads up.

[–]M4ntr1d/r/Arkansas 1 point2 points ago

No problem.

[–]aukxsonaArkanasa, USA 1 point2 points ago

try http://www.reddit.com/r/fayetteville they are in Arkansas

[–]BlankVerse/r/California 1 point2 points ago

The admins have changed the formatting code recently, so all you need to do is type /r/fayetteville, and it will automatically link to your reddit (be sure to include the first forward slash).

[–]aukxsonaArkanasa, USA 1 point2 points ago

I don't have any reddits for cities, just schools. Colleges and what not. I think we have almost every major college represented.

/r/Solar_Cooking has now been added to the list of food reddits.

Thank you!

I'm aenea, and a mod of /canada among other subreddits. I don't think that it's unreasonable to say that /canada's really a great subreddit to moderate- it's a fairly good size for a 'regional' subreddit, and it's not really big on drama. That's a big plus, in my opinion :-)

I think that this subreddit is a great idea- not only do I think that it's often helpful for moderators in general to talk to and learn from each other, but I think that there are some issues that pop up in 'regional' subreddits that aren't as apparent in issue-specific subreddits. /canada's a fairly big place, and also covers a wide range of interests from the geographical to the political to the very mundane and amusing. It's often pretty easy to figure out what a subreddit's 'mandate' should be when it's issue specific, but it's often a bit more cloudy when you're talking about a geographical area. I'd like to have some discussion with other country based subreddits to find out how they deal with that issue.

/canada has links to many other location-based subreddits on our sidebar- provincial, city based, regional, colleges/universities, etc. I think that most of those moderators read r/canada, so if you'd like to post a link for this subreddit on /canada, please message the mods and we'll try to figure out the best time so that your post will be seen. I'd say that posting a link on a morning weekday, and a weekend afternoon would likely cover your bases. We're in the midst of some changes there, so although I'd be happy to have a sidebar link for this subreddit as a help to other regional mods, it may well get lost in the shuffle at the moment.

Cheers, and thanks for adding me :-)

xerogod here, r/kentucky, r/frankfort, also r/doommetal. These subs are so small the moderation really just consists of checking the spam filter now and again to make sure legit posts aren't being blocked. I don't try to drive conversation or police anything. I mostly just watch and post myself occasionally.

[–]WraithXt1/r/Tokyo 2 points3 points ago

WraithXt1, moderator of /r/Tokyo

The subreddit was abandoned for a year with a runaway spam filter when I was given control. It's turned out well, and we do lots of meetups!

I always like to hear about somebody rescuing a reddit - Nice job!

[–]M4ntr1d/r/Arkansas 1 point2 points ago

m4ntr1d, mod of /r/Arkansas and /r/picsoflivezombies (which has no activity because it doesn't make sense).

[–]greatyellowsharkr/thousandoaks[S] 0 points1 point ago

I think /r/picsoflivezombies is destined for great things - I am now a subscriber.

[–]M4ntr1d/r/Arkansas 1 point2 points ago

Sweet! I suck at photoshoop, otherwise I would have posted more. I had all kinds of neat ideas for what the Left 4 Dead zombies would have looked like as living people, but am not artistic. I meant to google search for art and forgot after I got busy.

Side note: Thanks for unintentionally reminding me that I mod that place. New project: fill content.

[–]careless/r/Seattle, yo 1 point2 points ago

Heya, I'm one of four mods for /r/Seattle - we have regular meetups and lots of spirited debate (usually about cars vs. bicycles).

Good to meetcha all!
