One that we didn't ever get on camera, but here's the scene:
It's after 2am, and the club we were at that night has pretty much cleared out. This night was a 'foam party', meaning that after a certain hour the dance floor was filled with an ever replenishing supply of 'foam'. The kids dance in it, grind in it, do god knows what in it. But, by the end of the night, the foam is reduced to a milky, filthy, pool of warm water, maybe 6 or 8 inches deep.
We're packing our gear when I look up and see some sad, clearly intoxicated girl, on her hands and knees in the foam, desperately searching for her wallet she had lost on the dance floor.
It just seemed to sum up so much of what the whole experience was like, that it'll forever be burned into my mind's eye.

Well, some of the clubs use our presence as a marketing tool: Advertising that GGW is going to be there certainly gets guys in the door, and amazingly, somewhat tragically, it seems to have the same effect on many young women.
However, we would walk the strip and poke into various clubs, uninvited, and sometimes, yes, we'd be booted out almost immediately.

Hard to say. The four weeks were alternately awful and grueling, and also a pretty rad time. We were down there for 'Grad Break' which apparently isn't the most conducive to GGW's needs, as there aren't that many kids, etc. Spring Break and the like are really when things get 'Wild', so to speak.

In my experience, he treated everyone around him like they were beneath him.
Quick anecdote: We're piled into Joe's van, with him, myself, another cameraman and what seemed at the time like 25 hooting and hollering drunken 18 year old girls. These girls, scarily enough, have agreed to come to a 'party' at Mssr. Francis' evil castle 40 minutes away from where we were.

Frustrated I run into the last bar, and just didn't do shit. I'm pissed and sick of being this guy's monkey. So I come back to the van without any girls explaining that there was a wet t-shirt contest going on and I couldn't get anyone's attention.

Joe pulled the door shut and ordered the driver to leave without me, thus abandoning his employee on some street of Puerta Vallarta at 1 am.

Apparently, before my time, they had felt that the cameramen were fucking things up and missing opportunities with the girls. So, their brilliant answer to this was to give each of us a lanyard with a laminated 'script' on it.
The script consisted of things to do and say with the girls. Some of the ones I remember were:

This was our drill:
Show up at club and have DJ announce our presence.
Do a light show, meaning turn on our lights and go out on dance floor in an effort to see who responds to camera best. Oftentimes, we wouldn't even be rolling during this part. it was just to see who was shy, and who, um, was not.
After about 2 minutes of that, shut off lights and disappear for a while. Get a drink, head back to our booth or VIP, or whatever. Almost like playing hard to get.
Then, go out, and introduce yourself to attractive girls, particularly any you noticed being potentially willing to go 'wild' on the dance floor.
They instructed us to be approachable, explain who we were and what we were doing, and act like it was a party we were throwing.
'Hi, I'm so and so, and we're w/GGW. We're doing a night here tonight, and will be shooting, etc. If you, or any of your friends want to be on camera later or join us over there, just come say hi...'
Invariably, girls would ask how they could get some of the swag we had literally dangling from our pockets, camerastraps, what have you: hats, tanks, thongs - all w/GGW logo printed on it. We'd answer that you had to be 'on camera'..They'd get the idea.
Honestly, if a girl was reluctant, we wouldn't waste our time - It's no use, and could potentially be a legal headache down the road. I don't remember if the company made that clear or not, but personally, if I felt a girl wasn't interested, I just moved on.

Girl-girl scenes are paid for ONLY if they have to be. I recall the tour manager had a budget of up to $400 to pay for those, but you'd obviously start negotiating at $50 or such.
ALSO: in reference to your questions I didn't answer...
We had an apartment for the duration of our stay. It was in Mexico. I don't think the buses cross the border.
I think we were paid $150 a day (including a $25 a day per diem, that we actually did not get for a period of time, and we essentially refused to work until it was paid up)

Don't have a question but thought I'd share my encounter with GGW.
I was at the Halloween parade in NYC a couple of years ago, my friends and I ate an 8th of mushrooms and we were walking around gawking at all the craziness that was going on around me. We stopped on a corner to collect ourselves and then boom-- fate struck out of nowhere a GGW camera crew and some dudes holding GGW signs and wearing GGW shirts ran up directly in front of us to the drunkest, GROSSEST looking spanish girls, and immediately turned on their huge lights and their cameras and started screaming "YOU'RE ON GIRLS GONE WILD YEAHHH!! WOOO!!!". Of course me being the most immature 19 year old ever, and also tripping face, was more than delighted to witness the epicness going on right in front of me. The spanish girls started making out with each other and groping each others tits while a huge crowd formed around them. It was almost like they've done this before. I was dumbfounded and celebrating like I just lost my virginity, along with about 30-40 other people. And then, before anyone even knew it, they were gone in a flash. They shut their lights off and without saying a single word they were gone. Poof. I tried to follow them but I started getting scared. My girlfriend that I left on the corner by herself was not happy with me.

They use a documentary clause that allows you to record anyone and use their likeness as long as you aren't changing it or using it commercially.
For example, if I take a picture of people walking around a mall, I can put that picture on the cover of a newspaper because it's a factual non-commercial representation of the mall at that moment. If I photoshop it somehow, say I add an advertisement, then this is a commercial image and anyone in it has to have given consent.
In short, if you flash your boobs in the middle of the street, as long as footage is unedited, it can be sold without your consent.

One of the other cameramen remains a very good friend to this day.
As for the employees at Mantra Films (the parent company of GGW), as far as I could tell they were all new, all the time. Our tour manager, who was a great guy, would somewhat naively brag of his 2 years service to the company. Like that was some sort of achievement, but I guess in the toxic culture over there it was.
AND: Yes. Joe's personal pilot was VERY memorable. He drank with us once or twice and had some pretty crazy stories about goings-on on the plane and off. Though, I won't be sharing any of the admittedly hazy details.

1) Yes. Then, and of course more so now. I really don't believe the GGW cameramen to be some unimpeachable evil that the Earth must get rid of - I do believe to this day, that the girls are responsible for their own behavior (we never coerced, forced, or cajoled anyone into doing anything, but that doesn't mean our hands weren't dirty either), HOWEVER, the fact that such a dynamic exists in the first place, and that one sad, douchetastic, man at the top profits from everyone else's loss of innocence, is pretty fucked up.

Not to make it sound like I was some sort of outlier as far as GGW cameramen were concerned (truth be told, we were all just film guys trying to get a start in a new town - Los Angeles), but there was a moment a bunch of us were in our truck after a nights shoot and I, for some reason, described something as being 'hermetically sealed'
Our tour manager turned to me and repeated 'hermetically?'
I shrugged, and he said, 'and you call yourself a pornographer?'
It was funny at the time. Hope it translates.
I'm sure I'll come off as precious saying this, but there wasn't a whole lot of hotness. I mean, yeah, there were hot girls, some of them taking off their clothes for you and your camera, but the whole experience is so...weird, that it's not like you're really there at the time.
I'm sure it's much different for some of the other guys who have done this, but for me, the girls on camera part was strange and awkward.
However, the girls off camera was an entirely different matter. To my amazement, girls literally flocked to us, not to be on camera, but bc in their warped minds we were apparently where the party was. As I said, I didn't partake, but the other guys did, and it was clearly not a struggle for them.

there was a time when a handful of real porn stars were doing some of the "scenes" in GGW. I recall Charlotte Stokely for sure, but remember there were a few others. Some scenes from around that time look flat out like they were done by sober pros. What percentage of performers do you think were "already in the industry" before they performed for GGW, be it porno or stripping or whatever.
I've been convinced for years GGW is mostly strippers but marketed in a way to make girls think it's normal girls who do it. This is what turned girls into barsexuals and wooers. And quite possibly the reason terrorists hate us.

Mr. Francis is likely the biggest tool I've ever met. And every minute of being around him was agonizing. The turn over at the company is (or at least was) crazy, all due to him and his fucking whims.
