Surprise acts/lineup additions from past years? (self.Coachella)

Surprise act as in randomly comes out and either does an impromptu set or joins whoever is already on stage for a couple of songs.

Also,are the "surprises" more likely to occur on the first weekend or during the closing one? To me the first weekend would be the trial run and the second one is when all the crazy things might happen.

Beck did an impromptu accoustic set announced day-of in 2004.

The female singer from Scissor Sisters joined Duran Duran for a song last year.

Bon Iver dude joined Kanye last year.

Beyonce joined Jay-Z.

Cedric Bixler Zavala joined Omar Lopez last year.

Morris Day and the Motherfucking Time surprise "opened" for Prince.

Jeff Goldblum did an impromptu jazz set in the campground last year.

yea they're really cool with Lil B and Flocka, they'll most likely be there for Frank Ocean's set this year.

They're on a pretty strict schedule when it comes to performances.

But I did see Danny Devito pop on stage during the Aquabat set last year. That was a surprise.

Edit: Full disclosure, I've only been to the last coachella.

doesn't happen as much as it should, in my opinion. but just off the top of my head here are some surprises i saw:

2005: common joined black star on stage. mr. lif popped up all over the place that year.

2007: scarlett johansson joined jesus and mary chain on stage. perry farrell and boots riley(the coup) joined the nightwatchman for this land is my land.

2008: spank rock was sick so amanda blank filled in.

2010: brad wilk(rage against the machine) joined street sweeper social club on drums for the last song(mama said knock you out?)

2011: conor oberst joined the felice brothers for frankie's gun

in 08 M. Ward played with My Morning Jacket during "Off the Record", that was also the year that prince was announced a couple weeks before the show.

Madonna was added a couple weeks before, but Kanye was a total surprise and most people there didnt know until they were handed schedules, including me.

Juster Vernon (Bon Iver) joined Kanye last year. I wouldn't be surprised is Rhianna joined Calvin Harris this year. She was at the last 2 Chellas just hangin backstage. I also wouldn't be surprised if Snoop and Dre have some people come out with them.

Nope. If Rihanna didn't show up for Kanye's set, she aint showing up for anybody. As for Dre/Snoop....I've already heard that Warren G will appear, but a full-fledged NWA-minus Eazy E reunion would be badass.

I really don't think she would. She's really close friends with Kanye and Jay-Z which would explain her showing up the last two years, but who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if Wiz Khalifa came out since he's putting out an album with Snoop soon.

I recently saw a new-ish video of theirs with them "playing live" on the roof of some building in venice... and the song and video were so god awful, it practically ruined all of their old stuff for me. I won't ever see them live and I'm ok with it.

Skrillex busted out Korn mid-set last year, Korn being pretty much one of my favorite bands since I was little (and Skrillex isn't too bad either) I pretty much creamed myself.
